It’s been an exciting few weeks for me. Almost exactly one year ago, I opened my first pull request in a project within the OpenTelemetry ecosystem. Since then, I’ve made 61 contributions across 11 different projects. Today, with the support of a few sponsors, I became an established member of the community. It’s long been a goal of mine to get involved in open-source software, so this milestone represents the accomplishment of this goal.

The people within the community have been so generous with their time and knowledge, giving great feedback on PRs and providing interesting content via their SIG meetings and other channels. I have learned so much from them, and they have made me feel welcome. I really enjoy the opportunity to help out and contribute.

Right now I have a few more contributions in the works:

As someone who spends a lot of time studying and trying to keep with the observability space, I really enjoy the Observability 360 newsletter. I was honored when they reached out and asked if I would be interested in doing a small Q&A around different observability related topics for their new segment, “Observability People”. You can find my feature here.
